Rules that must be followed while at =ESF=
=ESF= Rules & Regulations
Please carefully read and adhere to our rules and regulations. We are slow to kick or ban, but we will, when necessary. (Members Included)
Team Speak
Main Hangout: Currently states: “This is a public room please treat everyone with respect, watch your language.” This doesn’t mean we encourage anyone to use foul language or be disrespectful to others in any other room / area. Only you can control what comes out of your own mouth, we can only control who continues to have access
to our Team Speak.
Web Site
Although we certainly support freedom of speech, we also have a variety of age groups, beliefs, attitudes, and offenses. With the numerous word choices in our English language, we feel one can express themselves quite clearly without the use of foul or disrespectful language. Even those of you who are proponents of foul, abusive, disrespectful language, might not like its usage around certain family members or friends. Thus, how can you gauge who’s offended in a public community such as ours, when you don’t know everything or everyone. So when posting anything, be tactful.
Server
The server is yet another public area where anyone can enter. Here again, you know yourself, but you really don’t know the person behind any particular handle. Even the ones you think you know, might surprise you. The point is, again watch your language, and treat others with respect. What you might feel is entertaining, may only be annoying and offensive to others.
Philosophy:
Our goal here is to mimic match play and realism as much as we possibly can. We prefer to treat snipers with the level of respect based on adulthood, which is made easier by snipers behaving maturely. We also assume that no one likes some admin shoving a bunch of rules, silly or not, and regulations down their throats while they are trying to stay alive. That being said, we prefer to use mods and mutators to govern play. They are indiscriminate, more accurate, less annoying, and distracting, than the “look and listen to me I’m an admin big screen in your face” human beings. So help us not go there by being respectful of others and playing by what few rules we advocate.
Thus complaints such as “nice spawn kill” or “he revenged killed me”, don’t really carry any weight on this server, as you will see reading on. So before you complain about anything, please read, understand, and follow the few level headed rules we have here. However after reading, and understanding our rules you feel that you need to draw attention to a violator’s game play, contact an admin or founder. Note, that all our members are level 3 or better and can kick violators from the server if they deem necessary. Always remember, “cheaters never win and winners never cheat”, so true. As mentioned above, we are slow to kick or ban anyone, but will if need be, this is up to each individual’s behavior.
POOR BEHAVIOR:(Not Allowed)
Language:
• Vulgarity (Not impressive nor intimidating)
• Hurtful comments, aimed at an individual, or their race, beliefs, etc…
• Excessively teasing or nagging someone with text or voice
• Mistreating anyone on any server (Game, TS, Web)
• Being disrespectful in any way, shape, or form
GAME PLAY:(Not Allowed)
*** CHEATING, ANY FORM OR FASHION ***
Anyone caught cheating in any form or fashion will be banned from the server,
along with, the Founders of =ESF= will notify all other friendly clans of your
IP so that they may ban you also. We are here for fun and cheating takes
the fun out of the game. So dont cheat!
Run & Gun:
• Running excessively
• Frequently tripping the run mod
• Running up and intentionally assaulting other snipers as a pattern
• Continuously forcing close combat situations on others with no strategic purpose
• Tripping the run mod even two or three times, during team games
( Be mindful of running around losing points, some want to do well and win. We are considering having the lost points effect the team score, so please don’t let your careless play ruin it for others, ignoring this will get you kicked.)
Spawn Killing: (Not Sniper-Possible)
Technically, there is no such thing. Spawn protection negates the possibility of spawn killing. It however doesn’t negate spawn shooting, which has its own punishment. Bots are the only ones that can actually spawn kill. Timed just right, it may seem that you were spawn killed, timed wrong the shooter will lose health or die. If you decide to have a “show down @ high noon” kind of scene with another sniper, live with the results and don’t whine about it. Both of you had a choice to avoid the situation and chose not too.
Spawn Shooting / Spawn Protection:
Snipers seem to take this quite negatively, almost as if say, “my that sniper is being rude, disrespectful and insensitive to my needs, whae, whae, whae”LOL. When did
cold-blooded snipers become so elegant? (rhetorical) I would agree if the
“spawn shooting” sniper was causing me to lose health, but he or she is in danger of losing health, even death. What outcome would you rather have, a patient sniper that waits for you to fully spawn, then blows your head off, or an anxious sniper or one that doesn’t see quite clearly and shoots prematurely causing him or herself to lose health at the same time giving you a “warning shot”? HELLO. Someone spawn shoots me, I’m grateful and it’s verified that someone has me in site and I’d better move quickly.
Spawn protection is two-way, no one can be fragged nor frag another until they have completely spawned. Granted the spawnee’s audio seems to be a fraction of a second sooner than the spawned sniper’s visual, but it is still a matter of timing and chance that both can choose to avoid. Use your spawn period wisely, quickly move to a safe spot, if not, die like you should. Don’t use your spawn period as an offensive weapon, use it to find a camping spot.
Visual Spawn Tracking: (Allowed) Chasing: (Not Allowed):
Visually tracking a spawner and waiting for the shot is just fine and makes sense. Chasing a spawner whether he or she is aware or unaware of the pursuit, is not allowed.
Elevator / Spiral / Spawn Point Camping:
Don’t fixate on any of these as a fountain of youth, or free beer for some of you, lol. If they are part of your field of vision, so be it.
Image Dropping:
Our perception is that "image dropping" is a computer glitch that few take advantage of and most are unaware they are doing. This normally occurs at some height and along the edge of something. A symptom to be aware of in evaluating whether you are dropping image is, your
view shakes and you seem to be stuck.
If you observe someone image dropping, politely inform them that they are image
dropping. If you are told that you are image dropping, please move away from
the edge or relocate.
Hiding To Protect Score:
Not against our rules, but kind a sissy like, lol…So try to maintain a level of vulnerability at all times as in Frag Nation.
Voice packs / Gestures:
Just because you click on something to produce a string of audio phrases or you
say it / type it yourself, really doesn’t exclude you from it’s production or consequence.
That being said, use tact and behave responsibly in using voice packs and gestures.
Not all phrases in certain voice packs are bad. Some are actually funny and entertaining, some are not. If you are a regular and there is a particular voice pack you would like us to install, let us know and we’ll check it out.
Refrain from using those that are as such:
• Those containing the f word.
• Those of a negative discriminating nature. Primarily(race, religion, politics, views)
• Those that have no real meaning or value, in light of context.
• Those that are not remotely funny or entertaining.
• Those that are just annoying.
• Also refrain from using them too often.
We realize that the above is a matter of taste, or lack there of. As in beauty being in the eye of the beholder, concerning the rules and regulations of =ESF=, we the founders, are the beholders, and with reason.
GAME PLAY:(Allowed)
Revenge Killing:
Revenge killing relates to motive, and only in a real homicide is it very significant. Such a motive in real life makes sense, why it’s considered rude in the virtual sniper realm, is beyond me. Are we looking to snipers for codes of ethics and etiquette when it comes to shot or not to shot, I think not. “Cheat” or “don’t cheat” is where we look and need ethics. I’ve been on servers where they not only allow “revenge killing”, but reward it. Every time I received a reward for revenge killing, it was purely accidental. The real problem with rules governing “revenge killing” is we have no control over where we spawn. You can spawn nearby the sniper that just shot you. It’s ok for him to shoot you again, but if you shot him, it’s revenge, please. What is the motive of a sniper? “Kill or be killed” should outweigh “revenge killing”. On the receiving end of this, if a sniper wants to risk and perhaps die two or three times crossing a map just to revenge kill me, more power to him or her. Not a wise decision in our book. A target, is a target, is a target, that’s my motto.
Hunting: (Stealth: Allowed)
“Hunting” is quite similar to revenge killing. In that it’s risky and doesn’t make sense to limit your targets, unless it’s the objective of the game. The main factor would be head count. If there are only a couple to few snipers playing, especially on a big map, it almost dictates hunting to a certain degree or you may fall asleep. Nonetheless this is a camping server and running people down is not “stealth hunting”. Stealth hunting is moving unnoticeably and only if necessary.
Assault: (Tactical-Allowed)
(As mentioned earlier, “Running up and intentionally assaulting other snipers
as a pattern” is not allowed.)
A now and then tactical assault on the other hand is allowed, as in taking a bunker, etc. If you know that an enemy is occupying a nearby strategic spot, it only makes sense to try and take it for yourself or your team. On the receiving end, if you know you have a sweet spot, you have every right to protect it. (Realism, remember) All this being said, the strong preference and goal of a sniper is to kill from a distance.
Laying Down: (Dumb But Allowed)
If you get tired, want to nap, or just play possum, during game play go ahead, make our day. You lie, you die on this server. If you need a break, disconnect and come back later when you’re ready to get it on!. Again, we encourage you to stand and fight.
The bottom line is summed up in a word choice we’ve used here, and everywhere, tact. If you only remember one thing, remember the Golden Rule.
Golden Rule:
Tact 1. Acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate in dealing with others, including the ability to speak or act without offending.
The only other thing we would have you consider before any actions, whether verbal or written, would be, is it the best for all involved. Thank you for reading and especially respecting our rules and regulations. Have fun, Founders: The Rock and Killerzone
Aka: killerrock…
